Story
Please join us for the internment of David's ashes and a memorial Cricket match on Sunday September 26th.
There will be a short ceremony to bury David's ashes in the Wytham village burial ground (which is at the back of the Wytham village green) at 12.30 - 1pm.
This will be followed by a memorial cricket match.
Please bring your own picnic and we'll provide tea! We really look forward to seeing you and remembering David with you.
Message from Joe ROOOOOOOOOT...
Dear Cricketers, (I use that term loosely... ),
As you know Liz is organising a memorial cricket match for Dave who I spent man a pleasant day at test matches with.
We are keen to organise two teams for a 20:20 game starting at 1pm and I envisage completing by 5.30pm unless the over rate is abysmally poor (team captains will be fined!)
The venue is Wytham Village Green, Wytham, near Oxford, OX2 8QN.
I need expressions of interest and if you could say how you knew Dave then I will aim to form teams based upon some common characteristic (don't worry batting or bowling proficiency will not be one of the criteria). if you can hold a bat, walk 22 yards and loved Dave then you are more than eligible for selection.
Can you email me at t.j.clark@doctors.org.uk or Whatsapp /SMS on 07967 724697 if you would like to play. If you can dust the moth balls of any kit or even better "liberate" any kit - pads, gloves, bats, balls, boxes, etc from other sources (kids, schools, clubs, sports direct etc) then please bring.
There will be no reviews just old fashioned dodgy umpiring (feel free to volunteer for umpiring/scoring too).
Of course, spectators are required to appreciate the reverse swing and sublime stroke making which will undoubtedly be on display!
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes
Justin Clark.
For those of you who don't know Justin is responsible for introducing Liz and David to each other in 1992 at Birmingham University Berlins bar, after a very tough year 5 surgical exam.
